Flatonia Rail Park

The Flatonia Rail Park is located in historic downtown Flatonia. Railfans from all around come to our town to see Southern Pacific Tower No. 3, which was still in use until
September 1996. Next to the tower is a Southern Pacific Caboose. The caboose was donated and brought to town by Union Pacific.

In the summer of 2007, strong winds damaged our old depot which was located near Tower #3. The damage was too great and the depot had to be torn down. Before the damage, plans were to turn the old depot into a railroad museum. At this time, the Railroad Commission is looking into options and expense to build a likeness of the old depot. We will keep you informed of the status.

Webcams coming soon! Train enthusiasts will be able to link to webcams to view trains as they go by. For more information and updates, visit www.railcrossroadstx.com

The inside of the Tower No. 3 and the Caboose can be seen by appointment through the Chamber of Commerce office at 361.865.3920 or by contacting Tommy Shults at 979.743.5366 or send Tommy an email . You can also visit Tommy's website at www.sidetracktommy.com

At the railroad interlocker, on the west end of town, is the Flatonia Photo Pavilion. The pavilion is open to the public 24/7.  Pavilion parties are held periodically and railfans come out for a luncheon and to share stories and pictures with each other.

Tommy Schults, founder of the Railroad Historical Club formed the club to bring together a community of interested rail-fans. The Flatonia Railroad Historical Club is new and in the planning stages. If you would like to participate, become a member or if you have any questions, email Tommy Shults or call Tommy directly at 979.743.5366
